Your immune system functions on a continuum, meaning the more you focus on adding one good thing, the easier and faster your body will adapt and embrace other things in that similar light. The same is true for the opposite, or negative habits you have in your life that unknowingly have a detrimental impact to your health, vitality, and skin.
Now more than ever we’re searching for answers and quick fixes as to how we can boost our immune systems and stay healthy. It can be super overwhelming when you’re flooded with all kinds of information from the internet that are polarizing in opinions and over complicate our lives.
I invite you to take a breath and go back to the basics with me where I will share with you 3 ways you can increase your immune system while simultaneously giving yourself a healthy glow.
The first tip may sound cliché but is truly essential! Your level of hydration is key for maintaining your overall wellness. Water is responsible for detoxifying the body from any catalysts for inflammation, which degrade your immune defense. One way I like to stay hydrated is by sipping non-caffeinated teas throughout the day. This one is my favorite! I also like to add fresh lemon to my water for the added benefit of vitamin c, which has been shown to improve your body’s collagen production, leading you to plump and youthful looking skin.

My next tip is to eat the rainbow. Focusing on adding a diverse range of fruits and veggies will give your body a much-needed boost of antioxidants. Antioxidants are known for their ability to decrease your body’s level of inflammation and mitigate the effects of environmental stressors. All the while, antioxidants contain an abundance of vitamins and minerals which help visibly correct signs of aging and aid in your skin’s regeneration process. Some antioxidant rich foods for you to include in your diet are red cabbage, blueberries, dark chocolate, and clementine’s as some to name. I especially love this brand of chocolate for its taste and ethical standards!
My final tip for you is working on your reactions to stress and channeling your energy in a healthy way. You see, chronic stress leads to chronic inflammation which leads to a weakened immune response. Whether it be physical or emotional stress, our bodies cannot tell the difference and will go into fight or flight mode. Not to mention, constant stress inhibits your body from regenerating properly. Your skin can take a big hit because of this! Some ways I channel my stress are by playing my favorite music and having a dance party in my room, or just taking 5 minutes from my day and meditating, focusing on the depth of my breath. Choose something that adds joy to your life & lets you just flow without the need to think too deep. This is a great short, guided meditation before bed!
Remember, wellness is the sum of small habits repeated and built upon. Focus on what you can control in this moment, keep it simple, and adapt these suggestions to that! Each body is unique and requires varying amounts of certain things, so take this time to truly listen and respond with love.
